2003 ProKat 2860 Walk Around
Offering my 2003 ProSports ProKat 2860 for sale. There arent that many of these on the West Coast. With a 96 beam and a solid 32 overall, this is just about the biggest trailerable catamaran you can find.

This boat was going to be the one I kept for life, and it has gone through an extensive overhaul over the last 18 months. From completely replacing all the 12v wiring to rebuilding the turbos and aftercoolers on the engines, everything has been done with long term reliability in mind. Now we may need to relocate for work and I need to downsize to something smaller that I wont have to ship cross-country and that I can launch and recover single-handed more easily. I know I wont get out of it what Ive put in, but heres the highlights of the work done:
Electrical
- Completely rewired all 12v systems with new wire runs using wire 1 gauge heavier than ABYC standard
- new power distribution panels
- 3 Blue Sea switch/breaker panels
- 2x40 ampVictron Energy argo diode isolators ensure that all 4 batteries supply power to the bilge pumps and high water alarms for safety without creating a parallel that could drain the bank
- 1 x 80 amp Victron argo diode isolator allows both port and starbord banks to be used to drive the electronics suite without bridging the banks together
- 2x new battery chargers
- 4x new batteries
- LED deck, docking and cabin lights
- new Maxwell Freedom 500 windlass motor, breaker, switch and reversing solenoid
- new bilge pumps and high water alarms forward and aft in each sponson
- new Freshwater pump, washdown pump, head flush pump
Engines & Controls -. Both engines were pulled, cleaned, painted, and a full external overhaul done. Everything thats hard to get to was done while the engines were out.
- Turbos completely rebuilt with new turbine and bearings, new waste gates, anti-corrosion ceramic coated, balanced and tuned to match (Pure-Turbos, Oceanside)
- Custom built aftercooler housings, machined from billet and hard anodized for mil-spec corrosion resistance (Cogdell Machine, Carlsbad)
- heat exchangers & aftercooler cores cleaned & overhaled (Precision Radiator, Rainbow)
- new alternators, starters, starter relays
- new outdrive trim pumps, trim rams
- new timing belts, serpentine belts
- new throttle cables and control binnacle
- new Sea Star hydraulic helm
- new Turbocator combination boost & pyro (exhaust temp) gauges
Electronics
- new Simrad NSS9 Evo3
- new Simrad 3g broadband radar

- Airmar B275HL-W wide beam, dual channel CHIRP transducer

This is a big boat but it trailers well behind my F250 Superduty. Fully loaded with 2000lbs (250g) of diesel, full bait tank, ice, gear and a couple of 230# fishing buddies the boat will cruise at 16 knots and give 1.8-2.0 mpg. I was planning to experiment with going up to a four blade prop, but havent tried it yet. Trolling or slow cruise at hull speed will get you between 4-6 mpg.
